ADRC Senior Nutrition Program Finds a New Home at Club 55

We are excited to announce that beginning July 1, 2026, Club 55 Senior Center will become the new home of the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC)  Senior Nutrition Program for Lake Mills and Waterloo.

While the program continues to be fully operated and administered by  ADRC, Club 55 is excited  to partner in helping make these valuable services more visible and accessible to older adults and their families in our community.

Many people are unaware of the nutrition, wellness, and support services available through the ADRC until they or a loved one need them. Club 55 is committed to helping spread the word by regularly sharing information about the Senior Nutrition Program through our website, social media channels, and e-newsletter. By increasing awareness, we hope more older adults, family members, caregivers, and friends will learn about these valuable resources and connect people with the support they need.

Good nutrition is essential to healthy aging, but so is socialization and feeling connected to the community. Together, the ADRC and Club 55 feel this new location will make it easier for older adults to enjoy all of those benefits in one welcoming place.

Nutritious Meals and Meaningful Connections

The ADRC Senior Nutrition Program offers two important services that help older adults maintain their health, independence, and quality of life.

Home Delivered Meals (Meals on Wheels)

For eligible older adults who have difficulty preparing meals or leaving home regularly, nutritious meals can be delivered directly to their door. Home Delivered Meals provide not only healthy food, but also regular contact and peace of mind for participants and their families.

Congregate Dining

Adults age 60 and older, along with spouses of any age, are invited to enjoy lunch in a welcoming group setting. Congregate dining is more than a meal. It offers a chance to gather with others. For many participants, lunch becomes a highlight of the week—a reason to get out of the house, see familiar faces, and enjoy time with others.

More Than a Meal

The move to Club 55 creates exciting opportunities for participants to make the most of their visit.

"Good nutrition and social connection go hand in hand," said Carol Burrows, President of Club 55 Senior Center. "We're excited to welcome the Nutrition Program to Club 55 and provide a warm, inviting space where older adults can enjoy a meal and socialize.”

Burrows believes the new location can help participants get even more from the program.

"When people come for lunch, we hope they'll feel encouraged to stay awhile," she said. "Whether it's joining an activity, or simply enjoying conversation over coffee, Club 55 offers needed social opportunities and a sense of community. That's something many older adults are looking for."

Helping Families and Caregivers Find Support

Often, family members, friends, neighbors, and caregivers are the first to recognize when an older adult may benefit from additional support.

Many people are unaware that services like Home Delivered Meals and Congregate Dining are available right here in our community. By sharing information about the ADRC Senior Nutrition Program, Club 55 hopes to help more families discover resources that can support their loved ones' health, independence, and well-being.

Family members often play an important role in encouraging a loved one to stay active, connected, and well-nourished. We hope this partnership helps start those conversations and makes it easier for families to find local resources that can make a meaningful difference.

"Sometimes all it takes is a family member or friend sharing information about a program like this," said Burrows. "We want people to know these services exist and that everyone is welcome."

In addition to nutritious meals, participants may learn about other services and supports available through the ADRC that can help them continue living safely and independently while maintaining a high quality of life.

Monthly Menus and Meal Options

The ADRC publishes monthly menus featuring nutritious, balanced meal choices and a variety of entrée options. Participants may also choose from available salad meal selections.

The monthly menu clearly identifies options for individuals with dietary restrictions and special meal needs, making it easier for participants to select meals that fit their preferences and health requirements.

Menus are updated monthly and can be viewed through the ADRC Senior Nutrition Program. Club 55 will also help share menu information through our website, social media channels, and e-newsletter so participants and families can stay informed about upcoming meal offerings.
